25+ years of Tang Soo Do instruction · Royersford & Birdsboro, PA
4–7 years
Children — Ages 4 to 7
A first taste of the martial arts, built around motor skills, listening and confidence.
Our youngest students learn the fundamentals of Tang Soo Do in a class designed entirely around how four to seven year olds learn — short drills, clear goals and plenty of encouragement.
The program runs in two groups. Beginners cover their first nine months of training, where the goal is a solid foundation: balance, hand-eye coordination, and the ability to follow instruction in a busy room. Once a student earns orange belt they move up to the intermediate and advanced class schedule.
Just as much attention goes into character as into technique. Students practise taking turns, showing respect to partners and instructors, and finishing what they start — habits that show up at home and at school long before they show up in a form.
Sparring is not part of the beginner curriculum at this age. Instead, classes finish with structured games that build the same speed, distance awareness and reaction time in a way that is safe and genuinely fun.
